To me, Feldkamp is a name that would stick in my memory for years. Amber Fey? Yes, it definitely has an ‘invented’ sound to it. I retained my own first name, but created something to go with it, partly for the reason you said (no-one can successfully spell my family name first time round) and partly to distance my writing from my personal life.
